Human displacement is a widely developed field of study within national migration studies. Within this framework, various categories and themes of analysis have emerged that focus on the migratory projects of communities towards Chile. This article aims to specifically analyse migration motivated by affective reasons and its impact on contemporary migration dynamics. It focuses on the analysis of Colombian and Venezuelan binational couples in the city of Osorno (Chile), to explore how these relationships affect socio-cultural and emotional dynamics. Among the main findings, three key aspects stand out: the role of virtual platforms in the formation of initial bonds, the affective strategies used to overcome the barriers of geographical distance, and the integration of couples in transnational communities. These results allow us to understand the relevance of emotions in migration decision-making and in the construction of ties in subnational contexts.
