Abstract

The aim of the article is to make a historical analysis of the foreign policy of the
United States to Latin America in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries within the theoretical framework of international systems. Di&erent levels of analysis are also used, as are the actions of individuals, the domestic scene and the international context in which the country was involved.
THus, are considered both realistic and idealistic or liberal theories for the purposes of study these processes.
