Abstract

The following text is a reflection -with a long-term emphasis- on conservative thought in Chile focusing on three stages of local political history: the oligarchic regime, the military dictatorship and neoliberal democracy. This proposal seeks to reflect on the importance of the family for the conservative sector as a binding element of its doctrine. It is concluded that in the last electoral period, the democratic-neoliberal one, the socio-cultural change and the irruption of new values modified their speeches -but not their doctrine- which is still aligned under the traditional conservative thought.
