Abstract

Transparency is a fundamental instrument for the combat of corruption. In the transparency field Chile has shown considerable progress since the return of democracy, however ,it is necessary to go deeper and analyze how transparency relates to the quality of public policies in Chile. This work seeks to establish a relationship between transparency and socioeconomic conditions in cities in Chile by using non-parametric techniques to inquire direction and magnitude of the relationship between the variables. Request for access to information, according to Chilean law, and multidimensional measurement of poverty are used as principal variables.
