Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article submitted is original and has not been previously published.
  • The article submitted is not under review elsewhere.
  • Submitted file uses .doc or .docx format
  • The text complies with all reference, style and other requirements established in "Author Guidelines".

Author Guidelines

RChD: creación y pensamiento” publishes in its electronic edition, articles for its sections. For submitting contributions, papers must be delivered according to the following editorial guidelines.  Failure to comply with these rules will be grounds for rejection of the article:

  1. The articles submitted to “RChD: creación y pensamiento” must be original and unpublished.
  2. The file containing the written article, should be sent in word text format (extensions .docx), in English, Spanish or Portuguese through the journal’s website: http://rchd.uchile.cl. The name of the file and its content must avoid any reference to the author’s identity or institutional affiliation.
  3. The article must not exceed a maximum of 6000 words including title, author’s biography, abstract, keywords, references, tables and figures, and must exceed a minimum of 2500 words.
  4. Author’s contact information and research funding sources must be declared.
  5. The articles must conform to the journal’s editorial line. Articles resulting from research projects will be preferred.
  6. The submission must conform to the journal’s ethics declaration (available at Policies section).
  7. The format of the page should be in Letter size, with a 2 cm right margin, and 3cm for the rest, placing page numbers at the footer right corner. The font should be Arial 11 point, single spacing.
  8. The article’s header will comprise the title (up to 12 words); the abstract (up to 200 words) and 3 to 5 keywords.
  9. Following the header, the manuscript content development must be structured with an introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions and references, the latter must abide to style specifications (see Structure of the article / References).
  10. The articles containing local terms, acronyms and nomenclature, should describe and/or explain their meaning in order to ensure a comprehensive reading for readers foreign to the presented problem or topic.
  11. Graphic content can consist of photos, figures (plans, sketches, drawings, illustrations, etc.), tables, charts, and/or diagrams. These visual elements are required to be sharp clear, and essentially they should be part of the document's content, avoiding muted and non-related images.
  12. Author’s can include up to 10 graphic elements. All these material must be included in the text, placing them in the approximate position required. In addition, all the graphic elements must be uploaded as independent files through the journal’s website http://rchd.uchile.cl, complying with a minimum image resolution of 300dpi (for a 20 x 15 cm print size) and using.tiff or .jpg file extensions. Each attached element must be consecutively numbered, identified with a descriptive title and indicate its reference source.
  13. If the article includes tables, these must be developed in text format and included in the manuscript body. They must not be sent independently or using image format. In the case of including graphic elements that are not a property of the author, it will be required to provide a written proof of consent from the owners. Otherwise, the content will not be published by this journal.

 

Structure of the article:

    Cover page: Correspond to the first page and include the following elements:
  1. Title: Should clearly reflect the main idea of the article. No more than 12 words. In Spanish and English; if the article is written in English or Portuguese, the title must also be included in Spanish (which is the main language of the journal).
  2. Running head: Abridged title located on every page header. • Author’s note: Degree, email and author(s) full name, in order regarding their contribution. Institutional affiliation (place where the author conducted the research; academic department and university if applicable, city and country). If an author has not institutional affiliation, indicate city and country only. Change of affiliation (if applicable). Acknowledgments. Identify projects, scholarships and other types of funding. Corresponding author: mention with whom will be followed the communication about the article, indicating the name, postal address and email.
  3. Abstract: In Spanish and English, in addition to the main language of the article (when using portuguese). If the article is written in English or Portuguese, an abstract in Spanish must be added. Up to 200 words.
  4. Keywords: In Spanish and English, in addition to the main language of the article (when using portuguese). If the article is written in English or Portuguese, keywords in Spanish must be added. Three to Five, all in lowercases, with exception of proper nouns or nomenclatures.
  5. Methodology / Development.
  6. Discussion and conclusions.
  7. References: All the references in the article should be according APA referencing system (use: Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th 2020). Regarding the use of references, those articles whose sources correspond to at least 30% of indexed journals (ISI, SciELO, Scopus) will be preferred.

 

The authors must agree that in case of not compliance with these requirements, the submission can be rejected and returned.

 

Copyright

The submission and evaluation of material received by “RChD: creación y pensamiento” implies that the authors know and accept the following conditions:

  • The authors retain copyrights and assign to the journal the right of first publication over the article, under a Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows third parties to use published content as long as they refer to the author (s) of the article and its publication in this journal.
  • The authors are free to make other contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the article published in this journal (such as include it in an institutional collection or publish it in a book). Although, should be clearly indicated original publication of the article in this journal.
  • The journal in under Creative commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International.
  • The authors expressly release the Design Department of the Architecture and Urbanism Faculty, University of Chile, from any responsibility for any legal, contractual or regulatory infraction that may be committed or committed in relation to the work, being obliged to repair to the institution, any damage resulting from the infringement of the afore mentioned rights.

Names and email addresses included in the journal will be used exclusively for the purposes established therein, and it will not be provided to third parties or for their use for other purposes.
