Abstract

In this article we will deal with understanding in terms of visual culture, the Argentine visualities about the ‘federal’. In particular we will work to delimit this type of social construction of meanings and materialities, on the so-called federal audiovisual series, produced between the years 2010-2012. This is so, given that these serial audiovisual productions were winners of Argentine national competitions based on state policies. The methodology provides us with analytical tools that converge in the so-called critical visual methodologies. From this perspective, the sociological work of visual culture addresses the technical, institutional and aesthetic dimensions. The institutional dimensions and the techniques that give rise to the Federal Series are fundamental to understand the emphasis placed on the narratives of identities and the aesthetics of alterity
